About The Author
Ray Diffley is a distinguished leader in education and the Founder of RD3 Education, dedicated to serving students and families worldwide through customized student development and strategic educational pathways. With a career spanning over 30 years, Ray has carved an impactful niche focusing on innovative assessment practices and guiding the next generation toward a life of impact.
During his distinguished 23-year tenure as Director of Admission at the globally recognized prep school Choate Rosemary Hall, Ray’s expertise earned him national recognition, including the Johannes Van Straalen Award and The Enrollment Management Association’s Bretnall Award. He also chaired EMA’s Think Tank on the Future of Assessment, helping lead the development of the Character Skills Assessment.
Today, Ray champions the concept of Articulation Quotient (AQ), a term he trademarked which combines IQ and EQ with powerful expression. Through RD3 Education, he empowers students to develop the self-knowledge and communication skills necessary to shine in school interviews, career opportunities, and relationships.

Ray leads RD3 Education with a mission to serve students (ages 12-19) from around the world. He provides comprehensive advising and works with families in 12-month cycles or multi-year partnerships to create personalized roadmaps for growth and success.

Ray developed and trademarked the term AQ, which he defines as the ability to express oneself by combining intellect (IQ) with emotional intelligence (EQ). He teaches that knowing and developing oneself is the critical key to a meaningful life and successful relationships.

Drawing on decades of experience in admission leadership, Ray offers expert consulting to navigate the complex landscape of education. He helps students identify their strengths and “find their why,” ensuring they are prepared not just for college, but for life beyond it.
